The Way We Are

Stephen Smarr- First of all I wish everybody the best of health and hope that everybody has a wonderful time at the reunion. I now live in Golden Valley, Az. which is about 90 miles South of Las Vegas, Nv. After graduation I enlisted in the U.S.Navy where I was assigned to a destroyer for submarine warfare. After leaving the Navy I was lucky enough to get accepted to the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue and proudly served for 20 years before being retired for in the line of duty injuries I received after being caught in a cave-in at a house fire. After retiring my wife and I packed up the kids and the dog, sold our home in Bluemont,Va. We then settled in Alamogordo, NM where I worked for the U.S.Army at White Sands Missile Range. I was employed as a mech-tech and ended up working on armored vehicles that were brought back from Desert Storm and were used as targets to develop a new missile system for the Army to end the problem of friendly kills. After ten years of the Missile Range it was time to hit the road again. With the kids gone and a empty house we sold the house and bought a motor home and traveled to 49 states and just had a blast. Finally we had to sell the motor home due to health. I now have two steel rods holding my spine together and very limited physical activity. If I'm still around and the 50th reunion happens I would love to make it back to Va. Best of Wishes to All!
