The Way We Are
Comments: After graduation, I attended Louisburg College in NC, where I graduated in 1968 with an AA degree. I then went on to Shepherd University in W VA, and graduated in 1970 with a BS degree in Business Administration. After taking my first cruise to Bermuda with a NC college friend, I began working full time at the Department of State in Washington, DC, where I had worked in the summers while in college.
In 1973, I married my husband, Ed, whom I had met at Shepherd. I moved to Winchester, VA, where he was teaching and coaching. I began my career with the Social Security Administration there. Within a year, we moved to the Eastern Shore where he is from. I have continued my 40+ year career in the Dover, DE, office and later in the Georgetown, DE, office where I currently work. I work with the needs based Supplemental Security Income Program which is for individuals (and children) who are 65, blind or determined disabled. I enjoy my work and helping people in need.
We have a son and daughter. Todd is 33 and lives in Felton, DE, with his wife, Holly, and stepson, Tyler. He teaches and coaches in Seaford, DE. Our daughter, Tara, is 27 and lives in the Charlotte, NC, area. She is a Corporate Events Specialist. My Dad, brother and sister still live in the Arlington area. My Mom passed away in 2007 and is really missed by all of us.
Over the years, I have enjoyed being involved in all of my kid’s activities, going on cruises, spending time with family and friends and living life!
