The Way We Are
Comments: After Graduation and before college I tried to fly a Chevy II across a field in W. VA, didn’t make it. Starter Old Dominion Jan 67. Started work for C&P Telephone company March 1968. Tried school once more Sept.68 (Park College in Kansas City Missouri). Back to work at C&P again June 69. Worked as a lineman, cable splicer, supervisor & engineer. Worked every aspect of outside plant. Got to be involved in 2 of Verizon’s Fiber to the home trials with both design and construction. The last five years I worked for Verizon I got to manage the training centers for outside plant in the state of Virginia. In 2003 after 35 years they made me an offer I couldn’t refuse and boy was that a great choice. Have lived all around N VA the whole time.
I keep very busy doing repair work for friends and our Church. I am also very active with The Verizon Telecom Pioneers. The community service organization of active and retired employees. I have been involved with Beep Ball (blind softball) for the last 29 years. I have a wife of 23 years and two grown children, Mike 36 & Melissa 35. No grandchildren yet.
