The Way We Are
Family: I am married to Diana Rogers Yorktown Class of ’67 thanks to Johnny Tugwell who insisted I ask her out for a date.
Comments: By any measure my life has been blessed with great success starting with my marriage to Diana in 1971. We have one child Blaire, who is married to a fine young man Jeremy. They have a daughter Kate and if we had known how great the grandchildren would be we would have had her first! After graduation from Yorktown I graduated from Methodist College, The University of North Carolina Law School and started a career in the financial services area. Today I am a partner in The Collingwood Group, a financial advisory firm headquartered her in Washington with offices in New York and Pittsburg. This is the one endeavor that allows me to bring my experience as a banker, mortgage banker financial advisor and investment banker to one focal point. When I am not working Diana and I have two vacation homes; one at Bryce Resort for skiing and hunting and the second on the Rappahannock River at Tappahannock. For the last 30 years we have taken an annual trip to Caneel Bay in the Virgin Islands but now as we get older we limit our travel to a 2 hour time span so we found the Sanctuary at Kiawah as our new Caneel Bay. Diana is still teaching English at Yorktown and next year will be Department Chair. Mr. Christian from our time at Yorktown is a frequent sub for her. Diana has received national recognition as an outstanding teacher and has been asked to speak at national forums on increasing performance for teachers and students using the Socratic discussion techniques. I am very proud of her accomplishments.
