Lets see . . .
After a nice career teaching UNIX system admin, data security, and performance tuning all over the world for Sequent and IBM my health took a hit and I disabled out.
Retired or disabled ? Its all the same to me as everyday is Saturday !
I am ordering a shirt which reads: US ARMY VET. No Money. No Worry No Problem. Will fish for food or beer. On Call 24 hours a day.
I live in Woodburn, Orygun, a little ag community about 30 miles south of Portland OR with my wife Elke and 4.5 cats. Tigger, Kanga, Roo, Piesack, and the feral Frank Sinatra who drops by to eat. Frank is a darned handsome Siamese, you can figure out the name.
We have a nice little place, 4k sqft on a third of an acre. Elke the green thumb has filled it with fruit trees and vegetables. Where we live if you throw a seed in the ground it will grow. I am in charge of cat wrangling, playing with computers and ham radio KA9AHQ. Woodburn has a huge Mexican community and we like to go to restaurants where if you only speak English you have a problem or an adventure depending on perspective(I speak Spanish). I am slowly learning Mandarin. Not as hard as people think, but not as easy as I had hoped. I am doing this for fun and to open up a world of very ethnic restaurants in Portland.
I spent 3 years in the Army and 10 in the guard. I have a box full of fond memories and stay in touch. E-mail is a wonderful tool. I sometimes think of my days at Yorktown. A couple of the best years of my life. TWR Poli-sci, Paul Bellaire Russian History, Bill Lee psych, and of course General Lillard. Of course the guys I hung around with and the girls I dated. Happy days.
Well you said keep it short. I was starting on a TMI roll and stopped myself just in time.
All the best and stay in touch
