The Way We Are

Comments:  Hi everyone. After graduation, I attended a small college near Boston, and proceeded to cram a 4 year degree into 8 years, with time off for army service. I served in Vietnam beginning in May 1970 as an infantry advisor, returned a year later and completed my degree at Florida State. I learned through this website that Peter Angle died in action in 1968, his name is inscribed on wall panel 54W, line 22. I mention this because he deserves to be remembered.

I was hired to help a Canadian high tech firm in Calgary expand into the states, opening the Houston branch in 1976. We digitized oil well logs (think electrocardiograms) which were analyzed to determine reservoir characteristics. Later I worked for Aramco and made a few trips to Saudi Arabia and Europe. Along the way I developed a desire to learn how to program computers, a craft which I totally enjoy. Most of my career involved programming and business analysis for companies who had IBM midrange computers, and much of that time was as a free lance contractor. Today I am with an oil & gas engineering consulting company creating web based software.

But the best event is my life by far was when Mary Lynn Boone agreed to marry me in 1983. It was a marriage made in heaven - I had a house and a dog, she had two girls and a station wagon. Our two girls each have a daughter of their own, currently 9 and 13, and we must be the most spoiled grandparents ever, since one daughter lives a half mile east and the other a half mile west.

We serve as directors for a young marrieds class at our church, which also keeps us young at heart.

I would like to thank Betsy, Maria, and Susan who created and organized this webpage, it has been a real treat to re-connect to some of you. I hope to see everyone who can make it to the 45th re-union in 2011!
