The Way We Are

Comments:

Man, you guys are getting old!!  After graduation, I attended Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia for three years.  I was voted Class Vice President (not Treasurer!) my junior year, and played defensive end for the Tigers, earning several Mason Dixon Conference honors, and helped lead H-SC to its best winning season in school history.  In the fall of 1969, I transferred to the University of Texas in Austin. Without a doubt, it was one of the best years of my life on many levels. In addition, our Longhorns won the National Football Championship, and to this day, I “bleed orange”!!

In 1972, I co-founded American Housing, Inc., Bethesda, MD, and built up-scale townhouse and condominium developments in Fairfax and Montgomery counties. From 1978 to 1983, Johnny and I owned “DR. John’s” Restaurant and Bar in Rehoboth Beach, which became one of the most popular “venues” for D.C. area beach-goers!  In 1984, I joined Ronnie Morgan’s company, Horizon Financial Corporation, as Senior Vice President, Secondary Marketing, and traded mortgage-backed securities on Wall Street. I then moved to Seal Beach, CA in 1988, where I held senior mortgage banking positions with Golden State Bank and Rancho Vista Bank.

Wishing to return to the east coast in 1995, I moved to Astor, FL, a quaint little town   just west of Daytona Beach on the St. Johns River, where I continue to reside and operate Discount Mortgage Group and Mortgage Risk Analytics.

My ongoing interests include gourmet cooking for neighbors and friends, snow skiing, sport fishing, cruising the St. Johns on my 29’ Sea Ray to Silver Glen Springs for weekend retreats, and of course, attending Hampden-Sydney and Texas football games as often as possible!!

I sincerely enjoyed our 20th and 40th reunions, and look forward to seeing you all in May; and remembering:

“THE EYES OF TEXAS ARE UPON YOU"
