The Way We Are

Family:  I have been married for 30 years to Ralph Vanni.  We have four sons: Michael Brickhill (43), David Brickhill  (40), Steve Vanni (44), and Mark Vanni (41). We have eight  grandchildren: Micah Lynn (15), Daniel (11), Kate (10),  Nathan (9), Tim (9), Rebecca (5), Betsy (3), and Lila (1-1/2).

Comments:  What Have You Been Doing? After attending Mary  Washington College for a year, I had an early ten year  marriage and was busy raising two boys while getting an B.A.  and M.A. in Psychology from George Mason University.  I  worked as a school psychometrist in Fairfax County. In 1980 I married Ralph Vanni and became a Navy wife. Our family expanded to four boys between the ages of 9 and 13. I enjoyed our tours in Alameda, CA, Cleveland, OH, and back in the DC
area. In 1989 Ralph retired after a 32 year Naval career and we moved back to Alameda, CA near San Francisco.  I attended Cal State Hayward and got my teaching credential. I taught primary grades for nine years before joining Ralph in retirement. In 2002 Ralph & I began spending four months of
the year at our cabin on Whidbey Island, WA. In November 2009 we sold our home in Alameda and moved to the Seattle area full time. We bought a home in Trilogy on Redmond Ridge, an Active Adult Community, which we love. We still spend our summers on Whidbey. We have traveled to Europe and Australia and we treat ourselves to a few weeks in Hawaii each year. Mostly, we travel to visit our children and grandchildren who live on the East Coast. Lila, the youngest, is the only one who lives nearby. What a joy!
